How Your Gut Impacts Your Skin

Did you know that your gut health impacts the texture and appearance of your skin?
While we often focus on the topical side of skincare, the health of your gut can play a large role in the appearance of your skin.
Have you Heard of Your Gut-Skin Axis?
Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria that support digestion and immune function. When this balance is disrupted—by poor diet, stress, or antibiotics—it can lead to inflammation that manifests as redness, breakouts and cause inflammation.
While a healthy gut absorbs essential vitamins and minerals that keep your skin looking vibrant. Fiber, in particular, supports gut health by promoting regular digestion and feeding beneficial bacteria. Without adequate fiber, poor digestion can hinder nutrient absorption, leaving your skin dry, dull, and more prone to issues.
Here are some Easy Ways to Improve your Gut to help your Skin

1. Probiotic
Probiotics help to support a healthy gut biome. Our family has been taking Thorne’s probiotic for a couple of years.

2. Add Fermented Foods
I have added a small serving of Kimchi (fermented vegetables) to my dinner plate. You could also include certain yogurts, kombucha or other fermented vegetables.

3. Check your Fiber
It is recommended that women take in 25 grams a day of fiber. You can get fiber through oatmeal, chia seeds, vegetables, flax seeds, psyllium husk powder, etc.

I track my food (and fiber) through the Avatar Nutrition app and have discovered that if I am not intentional about hitting my fiber intake, it does NOT happen! So it certainly takes some planning!!

If you want to continue to improve your health, and see the results shining on your radiant skin, make sure you are taking good care of your gut!
