Can you treat Dark Spots?

Whether they pop up on your hands or on your face, many women struggle with the seemingly sudden appearance of dark spots as we age. But before we can fully address them, let’s first discuss why they show up in the first place so that we can reduce the cause of them in the future.

Dark spots, or sometimes called liver spots, are evidence of the overproduction of melanin, which is the natural pigment that gives your skin its color.  Ultraviolet light can help to accelerate the production of melanin that creates the dark spots. So if you are spending a lot of time in sunlight, your body may create these dark spots. UV light can actually be responsible for as much as 70% of the signs of aging in your skin.

*Can I just take a quick break to say how much I (Amy) don’t like saying this😬! LOL! By and large Americans spend a tremendous amount of time indoors, which seems to be fairly unnatural for the body. Being outdoors is good for our body and spirits! So let’s find ways to be outdoors in a way that protects our skin and health (i.e. with a hat or covered up).*

To treat dark spots, we have two different products:

  1. Vitamin C Serum: Our Vitamin C Serum is packed with three powerful ingredients that provide a strong and effective Vitamin C. They are: Camu Camu, Goji Berry and Pure Vitamin C are all included to help with dark spots and to smooth and brighten your complexion. The Vitamin C Serum also contains organic Vitamin E, which is has anti-oxidative properties, that can help to prevent dark spots.

  2. Miracle Overnight Serum: The Miracle Overnight Serum contains Bakuchiol Oil, which performs on the skin very much like Retinols, without all of the negative side effects, like redness and irritation. In clinical trials, Bakichiol showed similar effectiveness to Retinols, which can irritate the skin.

So if you begin to notice dark spots, first you will want to figure out who to best protect your skin outdoors. Next, let’s try to treat it!
